Past conferences:
The series of the biennial “Nexus-Architecture and Mathematics” international conferences began much before the present association was officially founded. It was started by Kim Williams, an American architect and free-lance scholar living in Italy. She organized the very first Nexus conference in Fucecchio near Florence, in Italy in 1996. She went on being the only director and organizer of the following two conferences in Mantua and Ferrara until collaboration with university professors of architecture, mathematics and engineering from of all over the world started.
From the very first meetings gathering only a few contributors, the Nexus conferences grew to meetings during which about sixty scientific papers are presented and discussed.
The Nexus conferences are regularly scheduled during the month of June of every odd year.

Nexus 2020/2021
2021
Kaiserslautern – Germany
Technische Universität Kaiserslautern, Architecture School
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Nexus meeting that was scheduled for June 2020 (a moment in which it was nor easy nor safe to travel abroad) was first postponed to autumn 2020, and eventually, for security reasons, was held on-line in June 2021. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Nexus conferences that had been, until then, regularly held on even years, are now organized on odd year.
Nexus 2020/2021 was organized in partnership with the Architecture School of the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Germany and was directed by Prof. Cornelie Leopold.
Cornelie Leopold and her team organized a very efficient on-line meeting and took care of sending the various slide shows to all the participants ahead of time, so that the discussion after each talk could be more fruitful and lively.
